How do I find out information on an iridescent wedding gown/dress?

My wedding is in 2 years, but I'm thinking that it is going to take that long finding my gown. I'm not interested in a white gown. Traditionally speaking I'm not supposed to anyway. But I really would like to have an ivory/cream colored gown with a dusty rose color underneath. I'm having a hard time finding anything on the web. Do I contact fabric stores, go to bridal shops, how do i find information on any wedding gowns? Thanks guys for the help! Planning weddings are hard.

1. for something like that, you'll likely have to have it custome made (or at least adapted). What you'll want is your base colour (dusty rose) on the skirt area of the dress, and over top of it have your creme/ivory organza. Even if you just find a rose-coloured dress, any seamstress (or tailor-minded relative/friend) could adapt your dress to have the organza overlay. I would contact your local fabric store to take a look at the different types of organza, and get some quotes from tailor stores. Go around to bridal shops only for the dress, since they cost an arm and a leg for alterations.

3. Hey! I work at a Bridal Salon! Finally a question I can answer with accuracy! Well, actually I have to agree with the above answerers, definetly go into a salon. A good bridal salon will do dress searches for you and offer options for quality alterations. (some even reasonably) They can order good grade material by the yard and local, established shops will even have recommendations for fellow wedding vendors. (Thus helping you through the daunting task of planning your own wedding. P.S. Beware the Bridal Department Stores!
